HARPUR HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL
Harpur Hill Primary School and
Children’s Centre
Our local primary school is in great demand!
It was judged ‘Good with outstanding behaviour’ following the last Ofsted
inspection. Its well-mannered pupils frequently attain academic levels that are
well above the national average.
Two important areas that the town of Buxton
is renowned for are music and sport and Harpur Hill reflects this by
consistently producing excellent results in both these areas.
Prospective parents are welcome to contact
the school (01298) 23261 and visit at a mutually convenient time. Prospectuses
are available on request and there is a considerable amount of information
regarding the school and its current activities on the website www.harpurhill.derbyshire.sch.uk
Harpur Hill is the only primary school in the
High Peak area to be delivering a programme in collaboration with Save the
Children which seeks to promote closer working relationships and understanding
between families and school. Anyone wishing further information should contact
Rona Barton at the school (01298) 23261 and enquire about the FAST (Family and
Schools Together) programme.
The Children’s Centre manager is Helen
Crooks. She has provided Harpur Hill with enormous opportunities to gain
advice, support or courses on so many areas of family life.
Helen has promoted links with the school by
funding a worker to assist one of the school’s teaching assistants in
establishing a ‘Nurture Group’ in the school and funding another worker to work
with a teaching assistant in opening a ‘Homework Club’ for those children who
would rather finish work in school and relax at home
The Children’s Centre not only offers a
variety of courses but also possesses an extraordinary amount of contact
information with regard to other services. Their number is (01298) 74101
The Children’s Centre also has an excellent
nursery unit where pre-school children can begin to learn to share and
turn-take and prepare for transfer to the primary school. The nursery has some
very gifted and experienced adults and Jackie, the manager, would be delighted
to hear from you if you wish to discuss the provision. (07929909751)
