Harpur Hill Women’s Institute

Meetings on the second Tuesday of each month  (except August) at 7.30p  in the Methodist  Hall on Burlow Road,  Harpur Hill.

Apart from a  good variety of speakers each month,  social events include; summer walks, outings, theatre trips, meals out and taking part in county events.  Suggestions are always welcome.

New members  are welcome to come along to a meeting.

Hosted jointly by St James’ Church and  Harpur Hill Methodist Church and held in the Methodist Hall,  Burlow Road.

Harpur Hill Youth Club

Harpur Hill Youth Club was launched in 2008 as a result of a consultation with young people in Harpur Hill. This junior Youth club usually caters for 8 years plus and runs on a Tuesday evening at 6.30 – 8.30 pm.

Young people take part in a range of activities including arts & crafts, music, computer games, cooking and sports. It costs £1.00 a week and young people are able to buy tuck if they want.

Sometimes there are visits arranged more recently a visit to the Fire Station on Staden Lane was organised.

Staff at the youth club has also for the last 5 years run a summer activity programme based at Harpur Hill Primary School on Tuesday and Thursdays (10.00 am – 12.00 am and 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm) there is no charge for this and anyone over 8 years can attend unaccompanied, under 8 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.

3rd Buxton (Harpur Hill) Scout Group  

Scouts is all about fun, challenges and adventure.

We belong to the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6- to 14 year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.

Scouts help children and young adults reach their full potential. 

Beavers 6 - 8 years of age
Cubs 8 - 11 years of age
Scouts 11 - 14 years of age

Harpur Hill Friends Group

Harpur Hill Friends group meet every other Thursday at the Methodist church hall Harpur Hill 2pm ‘till 4pm.

We meet for an informal afternoon of chat and companionship, enjoying Tea/Coffee and a selection of homemade cake. On occasions we organise small outings to the opera house or to enjoy a meal out in the local area or afternoon tea .Any suggestions are also considered.

At the moment we have a small amount of members and most are over the age of 60, this however is not compulsory and we would love to welcome new friends of any age.
